A Day in Paradise: Portraits With Old and New Friends

My son Zach and I had a blast a while back in Paradise, PA, the heart of Amishland, meeting up with old friends George and Steph and Jen. And we met new friends as well: Jen’s fiance Andy, and the girls’ parents Dave and Karen. And, of course, the kids were terrific: smiles and charm

and just enough attitude to keep the photos honest and create memories for a lifetime. As you can see. you’ll get the best pictures when you give the children the freedom to be themselves, and the opportunity to participate in the process.

The family portrait session was a hoot and the individual, couple and sibling sittings provided the occasion for more intimate conversation and photos. I especially enjoyed the informal engagement session with Jen and Andy. As Miracle Max said in The Princess Bride, “True love is the greatest thing,” and Zach and I got to see that not only between Jen and Andy, but with George and Steph, and Karen and Dave, as well as between parents and children and grandparents and grandchildren. It is truly a blessing to be able to share these moments with our clients.

It’s worth pointing out, also, that Zach was exemplary in fulfilling his responsibilities in his first every role as assistant. I’m especially proud in the calm way he handled an equipment malfunction that might have rattled even the most seasoned pro had we not been prepared with backup gear and plans. Well done son.
